Best Sommelier of BC Competition

We are excited to share the news that Wes Hunter of RauDZ Regional Table and micro bar •bites will be the very first Okanagan competitor in the Best Sommelier of BC Competition.

This is the 3rd annual competition presented by the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers (CAPS), BC Chapter and the winner goes on to compete nationally representing this province in the Best Sommelier of Canada 2017 in September.

The demanding competition is Monday, January 9th at the Centre Ice Club at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.

The contestants face a rigorous morning of preliminary theory and tasting examinations. The three top-scoring candidates will then compete in Wine Service Challenges, Food and Wine pairing and oral Blind Tasting on stage in a thrilling, public finale. Competition rules and format follow strict ASI regulations.

A great article about the 2016 competition was published in the Georgia Strait. You can read about it here.
