Chef Butters launches ‘Say No to Styrofoam’ initiative

A few weeks ago at the February meeting of the Okanagan Chefs Association, Chef Butters challenged the membership to ‘say no to styrofoam.’  Although many of our guests are aware of reducing styrofoam in the form of take-out containers, this challenge was directed to the back door of the kitchen and the product arriving in this harmful packaging.

Chef Bernard Casavant, Executive Director of Operations for RauDZ Creative Concepts spoke to CBC last week about the challenge of styrofoam in restaurants.

This home grown initiative will be taken to the Culinary Federation conference in Niagara in April where chefs from across the country will be challenged to Say No To Styrofoam and to work with their suppliers to find solutions.
